Jersey's technical heritage in one place

The Pallot Museum of Steam, Motor Vehicles and General Technology in Trinity on the island of Jersey presents an exceptionally varied collection of machines, vehicles, and agricultural equipment. It was founded by Lyndon Charles Pallot, known as Don, who spent his life collecting objects linked to the island's everyday operation, from steam engines and tractors to vehicles.

The core of the museum grew out of the efforts of the Pallot family and volunteers who not only acquired the exhibits but also restored them to working order. That is what gives the collection its special value: it is not just a static display, but a working reminder of technical development in an island setting where the mechanization of agriculture and transport played a vital role.

What visitors will see here

The site contains steam locomotives, motor vehicles, agricultural machines, and a range of smaller objects documenting local manufacturing and repairs. The collection also includes musical instruments, such as organs. The museum thus connects industrial history with the everyday lives of Jersey's people.

Particular attention is drawn to the railway section of the site. In the past, it featured a demonstration standard-gauge line as well as a narrow-gauge railway for visitors. As of 2025, however, the railway is not operating, though it remains an important part of the museum's story and its ambition to keep machinery in motion.

The museum is also a reminder of the major role played by private initiative in saving technical heritage on a small island with its own economic traditions.
