A family park with a long tradition

Familypark in Sankt Margarethen im Burgenland is Austria's largest leisure and family park. It covers an area of approximately 145,000 m² and is one of the major businesses in the Burgenland region. Its beginnings date back to 1968, when it was founded as a family enterprise under the name Märchenwald.

From fairy-tale forest to modern attractions

Founder Erwin Müller came to Sankt Margarethen in 1965 and worked here as a stonemason in a Roman quarry. This is also where the park's first chapter began. It was originally based on scenes from well-known fairy tales and gradually expanded. In 1970, an animal park was added, and from the early 1990s the first mechanical attractions also appeared, turning the grounds into a full-fledged amusement park.

Themed zones and the park's development

Today the park is divided into four themed areas, including the oldest Märchenwald, the family-oriented Erlebnisburg, the Mediterranean-style Abenteuerinsel, and Bauernhof with a petting zoo and elements of rural life. Since 2010, the grounds have carried the current name Familypark. Its mascot is the cat Filippo, who accompanies the park's modern identity, aimed at families with children and visitors looking for a full-day program.
