A summit in the heart of the Demanovske Vrchy

Demanovska Hora reaches an elevation of 1,304.4 m and belongs to the northern part of the central Low Tatras. It lies above Pavcina Lehota, about 6 km south of Liptovsky Mikulas, within the area of the Low Tatras National Park. From a geomorphological point of view, it belongs to the subrange of the Dumbierske Tatry and to the section known as the Demanovske Vrchy.

The summit is part of a side ridge that breaks away from the higher parts of the range and heads toward Poludnica. In the surrounding area, peaks such as Palenica, Kupel, and Koncity Vrch alternate. In terms of waterways, the area belongs to the Vah basin, with the eastern slopes drained by the Ilanovianka and the western side by the Demanovka.

Access and character of the place

Demanovska Hora is not a classic viewpoint with an open panorama. Both the summit and the ridge are covered by continuous forest, so the outlook is limited. From places with sparser vegetation, however, it is possible to catch sight of part of the Low Tatras, the High Tatras, the West Tatras, the Choc Mountains, and other ranges of northern Slovakia.

No marked hiking trail leads to the summit itself; the marked route heads to the forepeak called Demanovska Poludnica and traverses the southwest slope. Access is possible, for example, from Pavcina Lehota or from Ilanovske Sedlo via Magura. The place will therefore appeal mainly to visitors looking for quieter mountain terrain away from the main tourist routes.
